Underwater Pictures

I've been diving since 1986, back in the good old horse-collar days.
800+ dives later, I'm still loving every minute of it!
I received my instructor certification in 1998. I am also certified to teach Underwater Photographer
and Underwater Videographer Specialties as sanctioned by PADI.
People always ask me about my photo gear, because it really looks impressive.
Way more impressive than the diver behind it anyway. Everything is relative, I guess.

It is a Nikon D200 DSLR housed in Ikelite equipment. The lenses I use are pretty standard for underwater photography. For general purpose and wide shots, I use a Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm f/4 G with a 8" Ikelite dome port. One of the basic rules in U/W photography is to get as close to the subject as possible. Not to mention that this is also one of the sharpest lenses that I have ever used, not just underwater, but topside too. I also have the AF DX Fisheye 10.5mm f/2.8G ED, also with the 8" dome port. For regular macro, I use the Nikkor AF Micro 60mm f/2.8D with a flat port. For super macro, there can only be the Nikkor AF Micro 105mm f/2.8D, also with a flat port.
For strobes, it's still Ikelite, with two DS-125s.
And, predictably, everything is held together with Ikelite hardware.
In the past, I've also used the Nikon D70 in an Ikelite housing, and the Olympus C3000Z with the PT-010 housing. For the strobe, I was using the marvelous Epoque ES-150 DS slave. The strobe is now used together with the Nikon Coolpix 5200 housed in the WP-CP2 housing.
I will have more information, as well as reviews, tips and techniques on this website in the near future. There will also be a separate section on U/W Videography. In the meantime, please enjoy the following photo galleries.
